Weekend Wrap

Today felt like the best gathering that we've had in weeks as we concluded the series "It will Kill you before your Dead!"  The music was awesome, the communion seemed so sweet, and the lives touched where countless.  The joy of my day happened at the end of our gathering as we were taking communion.  As I looked out at the audience there was this one young lady who had tears streaming down her face and I knew God was freeing her from her offense!  She was letting go!  It was awesome!

I will make a cool announcement this week, on this blog, about that series "It will Kill you before your Dead!"  You'll have to check back soon to read all about it!

Connection Groups were AWESOME and at a new level.  We won't have the official numbers until tomorrow, but it appeared to be a record night for us!  The most groups we ever have had and most of them were full!!!  Connect to people and God is what it is all about!

Update RRS Feed.

Hello Bloggers,
As you can notice I've been working on updating buildingpeople.org and in doing so I lost the RSS Feed with the previous design. So, if you have subscribed to my blogs - you will need to do so again down in the "Subscribe to" application.

Thanks,
Shawn

What I wish I would have known...

When I started.

1.  You'll have wins and losses.  Celebrate the wins and learn from the losses.

2.  Not everyone who started with you will finish with you.  I have a friend who told me that not "everyone who is with you will stay with you."  So True!

3.  You need to go to church conferences.  Often.  They inspire your heart and connect you with like minded leaders.

4.  Connect with someone who is ahead of you and someone who is behind you in the journey.  My greatest resources are my friends.

5.  If it isn't working there is a reason and it's usually the leader.

6.  Take time for your family.  Lot's of it.  Your children will spell love "T.I.M.E."

7.  Don't let problems linger.  If you delay they will decay.  Problems don't get resolved on their own.  Address them as they come.

8.  You will have problems.

9.  People have real life problems and their only hope is Jesus  Christ.

10.  Doing ministry is and can be fun.  Learn to enjoy it!

Updates coming soon.

I have exciting news!!!  We are currently working to update our website with new home, ministry, and volunteers-hub pages!  We hold the belief the our site is the "front-door" to Crosspointe, therefore we work hard to keep it up to date.  Hopefully, you will start seeing a few changes by the end of the week.

If you have any ideas to better our site please leave a comment.

Weekend Wrap

We are wrapping up another great weekend at Crosspointe.  We had a good morning as the worship band sounded great and I taught the third part of our current series "It will Kill you before your Dead," and several people responded to it!   Our numbers were a little low but that is to be expected on this holiday weekend.  This series has evoked more comments and has been the most requested series since I've been preaching!!!

After church the Children's Ministry of Crosspointe hosted their annual Chili Cook-off to raise monies for their ministries! They had a awesome day and raised over one thousand dollars!!!  I am so proud of Alicia and Shelley.  You are the best and our church and community are so blessed to have you in them.  Seriously, our children's ministry is amazing and it is b/c of these two and their GREAT leadership ability!!!  Also, they have assimilated an amazing team of children's workers who love children and the ministry.  Our future is bright at Crosspointe.

Finally, tonight we showed the movie Fireproof with our new HD projector and on our new 20 foot screen!!!  We had many more people than we were expecting and the Fireproof Connection Groups are loading up fast - so if you want to join one please sign up ASAP!  If you haven't seen Fireproof - go rent it or buy it to watch it!!!  It is simply an amazing show.

I am looking forward to next Sunday as we conclude this series and will have a funeral for our offenses!!!

Great Weekend Ahead.

Hey Guys - literally guys - Don't forget that Saturday is Valentines Day!!!  You need to purchase chocolates, flowers, or diamonds for your wife to ensure that she has the best day of the year!!!

Sunday marks a great day for us here at Crosspointe as we will host the annual Chili Cook-off and Pie Auction.  All funds raised will go to support our Children's Ministries!  You better watch out Crosspointers as I am making and entering my very own special recipe!!! It is delicious!

Also, Sunday night at 5:00 PM we will show the movie FIREPROOF in our Auditorium!!!  We also have will offer a 6-week small group for all those who desire to connect to people and grow in their marriage relationship!  It is going to be a great six weeks...You can sign up this weekend in our Lobby!!!

Great Wednesday.

We had a great night last night here at Crosspointe.  The Children of Crosspointe went and ministered at a local retirement/nursing home and had a great time getting connected to that community.  It is always great teaching children to minister to others.  Also, our youth ministry known as ELEVATE hosted their annual McFormal and I heard it was off the hook amazing, and the best one to date.  They had close to 50 people and as usual the student who was voted best-dressed gets a free trip to Youth America!!!  Last night, the students voted Ashley Duncan...Congrats Ashley!!!

First FUEL

Tonight we hosted our first FUEL gathering for the ministry leaders of Crosspointe and we had an awesome time together. I thank God for a group of leaders who are so focused on the unity of our vision and the ministry that He has called us to.

At FUEL Pastor Scott (our YP) opened with a game and I shared a talk in which I reiterated the vitality of a church with vision.  Steffanie (our administrator) shared some initiative ideas that are going to streamline events and help keep all the ministries on the same page and she announced that we will have a volunteer central where we can easily exchange information.  This is going to be a huge help for us!!!  One more amazing thing that she talked about is that all our parking spaces are taken on Sundays!!!  Praise the Lord!!!
