This Morning

I am jammin' to Hillsong London this morning (can't wait for their new album to be released) and felt compelled to blog about this morning's gathering.  It is going to be off the hook, amazing!!!  We have awesome new songs, new video announcements and anticipating being in God's Presence.  I am going to wrap up the series on 1 Thessalonians by talking about Convictions of the Heart!

Next week I am starting a brand new series entitled, "END."  It's going to deal with the end of life, time, and the world as we know it.  It will be great, I am so excited about it that I want to start it today:)

It's a beautiful day in Oklahoma for two reasons. First, it is going to be in the 70's today and secondly the SOONERS won yesterday.  OK State played very well too, however, they lost.

Don't forget that tonight, after Connection Groups, we are meeting to set up the Fellowship Hall for our Family Fall Festival which is slated for Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.  Invite your family and friends to join us.

Incredible Opening from the Hillsong Conference

I am going to have to get there one of these days...

Amazing Grace - Hillsong Style

Preparing for 09

I have a confession.  A secret that I am letting out of the bag.  A tell-all moment...I cannot wait until 2009!!!  Ok, that was Cheesy but the new year will not be!  As the new year is vastly approaching I have begun working on our sermon series for the first three months of the new year and I have to tell you God is going to do more than I can imagine.  I have a feeling, a God sense that '09 is going to be an incredible year for God to heal, mature, grow, and release our church into all that he has destined for her (us). Here's a sneak peak - We are going to be dealing with heart issues that will unleash your full potential in God.

What do you think?   Leave a comment if you have an idea or thought about a heart issue that you've had to overcome...

Being a Better Communicator # 2

Own the moment.

It is real.  It bites.  It happens regularly.  It numbs.  It makes you shake, forgetful, and scared.  What is it?  STAGE FRIEGHT.  Stage freight is something that every public speaker has had to deal with and work through at one point or another.  One of the best ways to overcome stage freight is to Own the Moment.  Realizing that I only have ONE shot to impact the people I am addressing has given me a drive to be my very best.  How do I “own the moment?”

1.     I have to own the message.

2.     I must make EYE CONTACT with the audience.

3.     Be prayed up, not catching up.

Being a Better Communicator # 1

Own the message.

Speaking twice a week for nearly three years as the lead pastor I have found that it is easy to speak a message from my notes and not my heart.  To be a more effective communicator I believe that one must fully own the message that he/she is speaking.  I encourage you to memorize your message and deliver it from your heart and not from a sheet of paper or a prompter.  I am not saying that one shouldn’t use notes, as I regularly do, however, one should be familiar enough with the substance of the message that your eyes aren’t glued to those notes.  I use notes for reference points only.  Learning this has given me a better, conversational style delivery, which better connects me to the audience and makes my talks much more interesting.

Weekend Wrap

We had a great, but busy weekend at Crosspointe with a football watch party, a birtday party for Haleigh and of course church!  Wow, we had another amazing gathering as a great crowd gathered for worship and our band introduced an amazing new song produced by New Life Church in Colorado Springs called "Overcome."  I could have sang that song for an hour straight as I love being in God's presence in worship.

Many people responded to the call to Work, Labor, and be Patience for God...It was really good.

I am praying and working on next week's Gathering and feeling led to have a serious altar time where we will pray for people so I will be expecting God to do great and awesome things again.   I am working on a two part sermon about Biblical and Heart felt Convictions.  You know, Convictions can change the world as it did in the case of Uriah, Daniel, and Jonah...we'll take a look at all three!!

Friday, October 10

Friday Fun...

We've got huge plans this weekend as we are having Haleigh's 2nd birthday...we are expecting a lot of friends and family to join us.  My grandmother, great-aunt, and aunt from Colorado will be staying with us this weekend.  I can't wait to see them.  I love entertaining people, celebrating with people, and the fellowship, but preparing our house for that many guest is a lot of work!

Tomorrow will be an Amazing day to watch football.  We are hosting watch parties in the churches fellowship hall for anyone who wants to attend.  I think the Sooners will route the Longhorns 48 to 10.  OK, it maybe wishful thinking that they will win by that large of a margin, but I think the Sooners will win!!!  I will be watching the OSU Cowboys also to see if they can pull an upset win over Mizzou.

Finally, our Sunday Gathering this week is going to be amazing as it is the debut of the Crosspointe Drama Team.  Folks they are great, real great.  You don't want to miss this weekend.  I am going to challenge you to "live out your faith."  It will rock.

Looking ahead...It appears that we are going to be doing a huge food drop with Feed the Children and four other churches in our community!!!  We will do this around the time of Thanksgiving to ensure people have food to eat for the Holidays!  I am unsure of all the details, but you will be the first to know once I learn more.

See you tomorrow and Sunday...

Oh NO!

This is why I drink the TALL Starbucks....

I had to share this...

Taken from Perry Noble dot com!

One of the lessons I’ve learned while being in the ministry for the past 17 years is sometimes what people say isn’t exactly true…things such as…

(WARNING…you will probably only like this post if you are a pastor or a staff member of a church!)

What They Say: “I’m looking for a church that preaches the Word!”

What They Mean: “I’m looking for a church that preaches MY view of the Word. I think the BLANK translation should be used…I think BLANK should be talked about a lot while BLANK should be ignored. And if you ever stop preaching my view of the Word I will leave and tell others that you don’t preach the Word!”

What They Say: “Lot’s of people have been coming to me and saying they don’t like is…”

What They Mean: “I basically only have three friends…and all of them think exactly like me. The other night we were enjoying a time of self righteousness because, after all, we are right about everything…and were also slandering you (in the form of prayer requests) and thought it would be wise to approach you with our pet peeve. We’ve actually talked to no one else about this but said “lots” because we wanted to validate our dysfunction.”

What They Say: “I’m leaving the church.”

What They Mean: “Beg me to stay. If you will just ask me I will share with you several ways you can compromise God’s vision that He’s given you, thus becoming nothing more than a people pleasing pastor who is more interested in popularity than obedience. If you don’t bow to my demands I will remind you that I tithe and that the church needs my money, reducing you to a mere preaching whore…one who is paid for a service for the pleasure of another person.”

What They Say: “I want a church that is more focused on discipleship.”

What They Mean: “I want a church where everyone knows me and how important I am! I don’t want to reach people who are different from me, be it economic class or race or even musical preference. I already know WAY more than I do…but I somehow equate spirituality with knowledge rather than application and I rather enjoy feeling intellectually superior to those who don’t know as much as me.”

What They Say: “Don’t take this personally…but…”

What They Mean: “I am about to lower the BOOM on you…but you can’t get angry because I told you not to take it personally. Even though you have dedicated your life to this and pretty much invest every ounce of energy you have to this cause…and I think about it once or twice a week…you need to receive my attacks, even when they are personal…and you cannot retaliate because, remember, it’s not personal.”

OKAY, that was fun! I typed it all with a smile. Trust me…I’m not mad or frustrated with anyone…I just thought a pastor or two MIGHT get a smile out of this. :-)

Update from Elijah...

Here at Crosspointe we support many missionary's and ministers. One such person is Elijah Tindall...I recently received an update on what God is using his ministry to accomplish and want to share with you today....

Hey brotha man.
I hope all is rockn in your world. I wanted to take a moment to let you know what the latest and greatest is in our ministry. I can't tell you how much it much your partnership does to help us grow the kingdom.
Here's the scoop:

SEPTEMBER:
* 1,287 Salvations!

* Met with the casting department of a show called L.A. INK in Hollywood. They are interested in highlighting my ministry on one of their episodes. Haven't heard a final answer yet, but the great part is that while I was there they asked me to tell them "my story"...of coarse what that turned into was me sharing the gospel in a way they never saw coming. I believe it really hit home with a few of those jokers....and even better, they were filming it to show the network for screen testing. that means that another department of TLC is required to sit there and watch me preach to them! HA!

* I sent a myspace bulliten out asking the general public to help me gather new shoes for orphans around the world (This is a project i heard about thru Lifechurch. tv in OKC and decided that our ministry can help that cause. The response has been very good. I believe we will hit our goal of 500 new pairs of shoes for these kids.

* As always, the press for our L.A. ministry launch is in full swing. We anticipate starting gatherings in the Hollywood area in January.
As it stands now, our plan is to physically move the Tindall clan to CA in late May once the kiddos are out of school. I will continue to travel to L.A. once a month with the purpose of meeting with local pastors in the area (so we have a knowledge of where to funnel the new converts once we getem saved. Also to target the favored spot God has arranged for us to both live and minister.

Im asking partners to be praying for us in these areas:
1. Favor in housing
2. Favor in the right ministry location for this stage of the launch.
3. Quality video equiptment. We plan on producing a reality type show in which cameras follow me speaking in churches, comedy venues and clubs around the nation. We will use this to attract a media community and share the Gospel in a unique way.

Once again....THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH FOR HELPING!

Verse for the Day...

Ephesians 2:1 - 10
"And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience-- among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ--by grace you have been saved-- and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them."

Great Relationships

Something I have learned to appreciate more each day is Relationships. This week I have been 'counting my blessings' so-to-speak when thinking of the many God-centered relationships that I have. I am in relationships with some of the most incredible people who are brilliant in thought, fighters in life, over-comers of disease, smart and funny, filled with tenacity to remain rock-solid in their relationship with Jesus and they make you proud to be their friend. Each of whom are a great inspiration to me, and I am sure to many others too.

I am blessed beyond measure to have amazing relationships with ministry-friends, our church leaders, and my church staff and family too. Simply stated, "Relationships Matter," and we should never take one for granted.

Season's of Barrenness...

Tonight at our Revolution Gathering I will be speaking a message of encouragement entitled, "What to do in Season's of Barrenness." It is easy to follow God's direction when you have the "midas touch" and everything is working in your favor. On the other hand - it is sometimes difficult to follow Him when nothing is working out on our behalf. We've all experienced barren and dry seasons in our lives, so in those instances, what are we to do? I will give you three easy ways of hanging-in.

7:00 PM in the Main Aud.
