Revolutionize Part 1

In Psalm 55:19 the Bible reads, "God will listen. The one who has sat enthroned from the beginning will deal with them. Selah They never change. They never fear God." - God's Word Translation

Change is a scary thing. It is even more scary leading people through a period of change. Here are three things that have helped me as I led our church through some major changes recently.

  1. Focus on the End.
  2. Take a Risk.
  3. Believe in the Change.

Your right change can be scary, but the one thing I've learned in my life is that without it I'm standing still. In other words if we as christ followers are not ready and willing for change then we are standing still and not fulfilling the work of God. In the culture we live in today we have to connect with people differently than we used to. TV has numbed the people to believing that its ok to cuss, slander, cheat, gossip, and my favorite of all is using the lords name in vain. Blasphemy! We as christ followers have got to stand up for what is right and tell this generation about Jesus and the only way to do that is to connect with them. How do we do that?? Well its not by standing still and saying well its worked for 50 yrs it should wouk now. We have to come up with new and fresh ideas and new ways of presenting Christ to others, and yes that may mean that you might see a gothic kid or two, or a homosexual, or a drug addict, or maybe someone that doesn't dress or smell like us come into the church but the thing to remember is that its not up to us to judge them but to just bring them to christ and let Jesus straighten them out. Its our job to love them and witness to them. The classic mentality of the church is you come to us and follow these rules and we'll accept you, I'm here to say BREAK THE RULES, break out of that mentality and accept people for who they are and God will convict their hearts. In order to grow as a church and a christ follower we've got to be willing to accept change in our personal life and in church. Growth takes place on the edge of risk! remember it's not about us ,it's about the unsaved.
